Security Audits and Assessments

Business & Key Infrastructure Security Audits

We work with the client to assess their current security posture, determine their risks and vulnerabilities, and help them design and implement security improvements.  Obsidian works with the business leadership to enhance existing security protocols, procedures and physical security measures, or work to develop new processes.  Further, Obsidian conducts periodic evaluations to assess effectiveness, and help refine those processes and procedures to ensure the needs of the client are met.

Efficiency Assessments

Businesses, government entities and other organizations have a need from time to time to have an independent third party evaluation of their operations.  Obsidian can be an independent third party evaluation tool for your organization by examining the effectiveness and efficiencies of an entity's procedures and practices.

Residential Security Assessments

Obsidian works with individuals and families to assess their security needs, making recommendations to improve security of the living environment and help prevent burglary, theft, or potential harm to family members from an intruder.  In some instances, Obsidian staff can make on-the-spot security improvements.

 

Seminars & Technical Assistance

Self Defense/Personal Protection for the Non Martial Artist

This training consists of a four-hour workshop combining lecture, discussion, interactive participation and practical, effective and simple to learn self-defense techniques.  The workshop will consist of frank discussion about the participants' personal safety concerns, the mental aspects of personal safety (such as how to avoid getting into situations where self-defense becomes necessary) and hands-on exercises practicing proven self-defense techniques.  An "advanced" follow-up self-defense class is available.

Personal Security & Safety Education

Obsidian provides information and education to enhance personal safety and security on the street, in the workplace, or at home. Obsidian professionals can address the full range of personal safety concerns and personal protection options, whether presenting for a staff in-service, business organization or community group. Specific workshops include:

Workplace Safety

Obsidian will work with you and your staff to address concerns regarding workplace violence, personnel safety, and security in the workplace.  We assist in the development and/or revision of safety plans and procedures. We also provide conflict resolution, mediation of person-person conflicts and facilitation services. Further, we have worked with businesses to develop protocols for dealing with hostile persons and adverse personal conflicts in the workplace.

Loss Prevention Assistance

Obsidian's specialists bring an extensive Loss Prevention background.  Working with retail clients, financial institutions and service organizations, we have developed and implemented programs and protocols in the areas of robbery, burglary and shoplift prevention, inventory control and internal theft.

 

Physical Security & Investigation Services

Physical Security, Executive/Personal Protection & Protective Driving Obsidian provides personal protection, security escort and protective driving services.  If individual security is a concern, Obsidian can help with an action plan and skilled personnel.

• Physical Escort of individuals who may be a domestic violence survivor.

• Protective driving for dignitaries.
• Being present to deter hostile actions in the event of a firing of a hostile employee.

Event Security

Obsidian is a licensed security guard agency.  We address security concerns, recommend courses of action, and coordinate and/or provide security for specific events. Obsidian has provided security experts for film and video sets, celebrity functions, charity auctions and gala events.  Rather than providing a uniformed guard service, we provide professional, discreet security experts to meet specific client needs without requiring a long-term contractual commitment.

 

Background Checks, Investigations & Expert Testimony

Obsidian has licensed investigators and trained witness interviewers on staff.

• Background checks on existing or potential employees.
• Surveillance and undercover operations.
• "Pre-dating" screening (a useful tool for those who meet someone over the Internet or through a dating service and want to know more about the person before taking things to the next level.
• We can be called to testify as expert witnesses in our subject areas.

Monitoring

From a personal safety standpoint, when a person has a requirement to travel off-site for appointments - such as a real-estate agent, appraiser or home inspector, or therapeutic massage therapist - someone should know the person's schedule, appointment location and with whom they are meeting.  For those who work outside the office, Obsidian will function as that monitor/point of contact for the client, can accompany them to the appointment if necessary, and conduct any necessary follow-up to ensure client safety.
